Smith Carbine
The Smith Carbine was made by American Machine Works of Springfield, MA , American Arms Co. of Chicopee Falls , MA and by Massachusetts Arms Co. of Chicopee Falls c. 1861-65. Combined production is estimated at over 30,000. For loading, the barrel pivots downward forward of the trigger guard, much in the manner of the modern single barrel shotgun. SN 4088
