Pennsylvania Kentucky Percussion Bench Rest Rifle
These hand-made target rifles were precision instruments which, when fired from a bench rest, were capable of hitting a man-sized target at ranges in excess of 1,000 yards. This 40-pound rifle, with finely-adjusted peep target sights, was employed by sharpshooters for long range shooting tasks such as counterbattery fire against enemy artillery crews.
