The Prospering New Republic

Showcased are arms from early rifle matches on the frontier, the War of 1812, Texas and the Mexican War and the Gold Rush. The era also ushered in the percussion system of ignition, and Eli Whitney and U.S. arms contracts. Famous arms makers and inventors of this period included Eliphalet Remington Jr., Samuel Colt, Ethan Allen, Sam Walker, Horace Smith and Daniel Wesson.
