G Knaak Vierling Combination Gun
SN 4280
The Vierling or 4-barrel gun gave a combination of two rifled and two smoothbore barrels. The smaller rifled barrel, usually a .22 rimfire, was often fitted into the mounting rib for the smoothbore barrels, with the larger rifle barrel mounted on the outside. Many Vierlings were fitted with optical sights that had two reticles to allow for point of aim to be regulated for both rifled cartridges.
