Webley & Scott Single Shot Rifle
This rifle, chambered in .450 Nitro caliber, was used in the Canadian Arctic to hunt polar bears. SN 10580
Circa 1920 Webley & Scott (England) Lever-Action Falling-Block Rifle (single-shot/ breech-loading/ smokeless powder/ cartridge ammunition) England was quick to turn its war-time economy toward peaceful pursuits. Webley & Scott of London and Birmingham, produced the strongest locks of their time. Patented in the early 1900s, these locks were perfected with fluid steel of great strength. To that strength was added mass. Yet, for all its strength, the rifle is decorated with fine English engraving and beautiful English wood. Able to fire a single-shot .450 caliber Nitro cartridge, this rifle could kill almost anything with a single bullet. --Dr. William L. Roberts, THE AMERICAN LIBERTY COLLECTION; #124
