Griffin Breechloading Flintlock Musket
Made by Griffin of London, England during the period 1740-70, this arm is a forerunner of the Ferguson breechloading rifle that was used by British troops during the American Revolution. Loading was accomplished by unscrewing the breech-plug that is fastened to the trigger guard.
