U.S. Remington U.S.M.C. M40A1 Bolt-action Scout/Sniper Rifle
Watch Marine Sniper GroupModernized version of the Vietnam era M40 USMC sniper rifle. This rifle has the McMillan synthetic stock and model updates from service armorers to provide increased all-weather long-range capability. The 10X tactical scope on this rifle, donated by US Optics, is an upgraded version of the ten-power Unertl initially issued under USMC contract.
The M40A1 is one of the few military sniper rifles that can also claim competitive shooting success. A USMC shooting team equipped with M40A1 rifles won the Roumanian Trophy, an event where firing is conducted at 1000 yards. As this match is fired only with iron sights, the M40A1 rifles were stripped of their normal optics and fitted with Redfield Palma aperture sights for this competition.
